Finding Your Mythic Voice: A Memoir Workshop
August 25, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
Carl Jung called his autobiography Memories, Dreams, Reflections his personal myth, and in the book asked: “In what myth do we live today?” Jung believed there was a vital link between the personal story each individual lives and the collective stories humanity shares. When writers access universal motifs, archetypes, and timeless patterns, they not only illuminate their own stories, but find a way to tell their stories that others will connect to.
In this workshop, utilizing a timeless blueprint, reflective guidelines, worksheets, and discussion, attendees will delve into the universal levels of their life stories, which in turn connect them to a greater story of their time. From the formula for the mythic journey, focusing on the call to adventure, the road of trials, and the return, attendees will learn how to decipher the pattern of transformation in their lives and how to write a memoir that encompasses the universal as well as the personal.
